The Liner:
A liner is the bottom part of your label.
While it perhaps might seem to you as just a petty item, it actually plays an
important role for labels. The liner will enable the label to have a seamless
feed through the printer. Jamming and curling might be a common issue when
printing. However, with a Quality liner this can be avoided.
About the Coating:
When an extra layer of protection is needed,
top coatings are added to special materials. For instance, a weatherproof
material has the potential to come in contact with moist surfaces and other
unfriendly conditions. That being said, a topcoat will then be applied to
ensure the material is durable in all ways.
Perforation, peeling slits, easier to peel
labels
Laser labels may come with different slits on
the back (liner) and/or perforation to ease the peeling and applying.
